THE ROLE

You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.

The Advanced Robotics Facility is coordinated by Stefano Cordasco. The Advanced Robotics Facility provides technical support for the advanced robotic research lines in IIT (HHCM, ADVR, DLS, HRII, Soft Bots) in project, design, realization and testing of hardware, firmware and software for robotics platforms.

Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Software development, including but not limited to, device communication (sensors, motor drivers, etc.), system architecture and front-end.
  • Maintenance of legacy software
  • Collaboration with other engineering disciplines, such as mechatronics, electronics and control, to ensure the successful integration of the subsystems within the software architecture.
  • Development of the real-time low-level software for robotic platforms
  • Handle merge request and code review
  • Support team main software
  • Planning of activities with the software team
  • Handling software related project deliverables
  • Writing of status reports
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • A Master degree in computer science, information technologies, engineering or related fields
  • Documented experience in software development
  • Advanced programming skills in C/C++ and good level of Python
  • Experience in soft and hard real-time software systems (Ether

    CAT and CAN Protocols)
  • Confidence with version control tools (specifically git), github CI/CD and Docker
  • Experience in multi-thread programming and inter-process communication
  • Basic Knowledge about robot kinematics and dynamics
  • Experience with network settings and related issues
  • Good Knowledge of RTOSs
  • Good hands-on and analytical skills
  • Good knowledge of the English language
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
  • Experience in robotics
  • Experience in embedded systems

    Programming skills in other programming languages
  • Basic knowledge of some graphical interface tools as Qt or others
  • Experience with ROS and ROS2 and simulation tools (e.g. Gazebo, Mujoco)
  • Experience in management and deployment of large software frameworks
  • Strong problem solving attitude
  • High motivation to learn
  • Spirit of innovation and creativity
  • Good at time and priority management
  • Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
  • A yearly gross salary ranging between 35K€ and 40K€, which may include a bonus option depending on your role and contract
  • Private health care coverage depending on your role and contract
  • Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
