Full Time Days or Nights as scheduled by client (3x12s), EOW, Holiday + 2 On Call shifts per 4 weeks.

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient need, identifies the urgent or emergent care priority, and collaboratively provides direct care, applies appropriate interventions, and evaluates patient progress. The ED RN evidences skill in the use of various invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, and therapeutic interventions appropriate to manage life-threatening and routine emergency situations.

• Connect with patients and families during triage and identify the initial management of patients, assigning priority of care in accordance with Triage Standards.
• Conduct primary assessments of critical need and document any major deviations from norm.
• Evaluate the psychosocial needs of patients, families, and support systems and address any suspicions of domestic violence or abuse.
• Foster collaboration and mutual respect among team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and provide effective education for post-emergency care at home.
• Anticipate and address patient/family comfort and communication needs throughout the ER visit.

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only)
• One-year acute hospital experience as a registered professional nurse
• Licensure in New York State as a Registered Nurse
