As microelectronic technologies advance, power conversion and management circuits are critical elements in system-on-chip devices. Conventional solutions rely on inductors that are difficult to integrate on-chip, motivating interest in alternative inductor-free or integrable architectures. Switched-capacitor converters and hybrid topologies based on switched LC resonators, including resonant and multi-resonant schemes, are promising for integrated implementations but often suffer from reduced efficiency when operating away from nominal conditions.
This research aims to develop novel circuit topologies and control strategies for integrated power converters in Smart Power technologies, with a focus on resonant-based solutions, to improve efficiency over wide operating ranges. Research activities include the study of novel power-conversion architectures, the design and experimental characterization of converters in BCD technology.
