Position: Provocateurs Marketing & Events Intern (Employ.ed on Campus)
Location: Easter Howgate

Grade UE03: £24,729 - £25,804 per annum pro-rata if part-time

Corporate Services Group / Edinburgh Research Office

Full-time: 35 hours per week

Fixed-term: from 8th June – 4th September 2026 (for 13 weeks)

Employ.ed on Campus internships are ONLY open to 2nd year to penultimate year undergraduate students from the University of Edinburgh based in the UK.

We are looking for an intern to support marketing and delivery of the University’s public engagement programme at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The Opportunity

The University, in partnership with the Stand Comedy Club have a long-running public engagement with research programme, the Provocateurs, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe featuring university academics talking about some of their more controversial research in an informal setting with local stand-up comedians. 2026 will be the fourteenth year that this has run.

The Provocateurs Intern will lead on the final marketing of the 2026 shows. This will include:

  • Undertaking a programme of focussed tailored publicity for each show.
  • Designing and implementing a social media campaign for the whole programme.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

The University offers hybrid working; in Edinburgh Research Office we expect colleagues to be on campus for a minimum of team anchor days, team meetings, all-ERO meetings and other in-person meetings and events required in your role.
