The University isn’t just any employer. We are part of a local community and a contributor to global thinking, progress and research. In Edinburgh, you are in one of the world’s most attractive cities with active arts and social sectors, while working in a University that has made significant contributions to society, medicine, physics and teaching for over four centuries. Our people have helped create the modern world and are working on more ground-breaking technologies and practices.

Join the University of Edinburgh and you’ll be making a difference to everything around you.

The University of Edinburgh is a world-class organisation. We look for the best in the field across all disciplines and provide a working environment where academics can develop their careers and passion for their chosen subject area. We offer the full range of academic roles and have a genuine focus on our students’ performance and wellbeing.

The University of Edinburgh Business School seeks to appoint two Lecturers in Digital Innovation and Artificial Intelligence within its Entrepreneurship and Innovation Group. We are looking for high-quality candidates for these appointments who will contribute to the Group’s research and teaching.

Role and focus

Specifically, we are looking for candidates with a strong research profile and the skills appropriate to conducting research and to designing and delivering courses in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence (AI) for business and organisation, digital/AI innovation and innovation management, and digital/AI business and transformation. We will consider candidates with specific expertise in the management of AI as a significant element of their scholarship.

We welcome applications from those with a disciplinary background in one of the following areas: innovation management, information systems, and computer science.

Regarding teaching, we are looking for candidates with skills appropriate for delivering courses across the undergraduate, masters and executive education levels, and both on-campus and online. For instance, the successful candidates would be expected to contribute to or lead courses on our on-campus new MSc Programme in Artificial Intelligence for Business, which starts in September 2026, and/or to our MSc Programme in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and to support the development of our portfolio of AI courses targeting executive education.

More broadly, we expect these Lecturers to contribute, as required, to the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Group’s current portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate on-campus and online courses.

The successful candidate will bring a well-defined research agenda, demonstrated by at least one publication in a high-quality journal, and a commitment to further research activities, including participation in international conferences, supervision of research students, and involvement in grant applications and consultancy projects. This role requires the ability to design and implement instructional courses both online and on-campus for students at various levels, and possibly lead in the development of new degree programs.

A strong commitment to teaching excellence is essential, both in traditional classroom settings and through digital platforms, as well as in guiding undergraduate and postgraduate dissertation students. Moreover, the candidate should possess the confidence and competence to engage effectively with policy makers, practitioners, and other relevant non-academic stakeholders.
