Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for night shifts in an acute care setting, requiring an active Oregon RN license and multiple certifications.
Responsibilities- Work on a 19-bed Medical Surgical unit in an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes adults with CHF, diabetic complications and wounds, pneumonia, COPD exacerbations, hip fractures, COVID-19, post-op orthopedic and general surgeries
- Maximum nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on days and 1:5 on nights
- Night shifts from with every other weekend required
- Unit uses MEDITECH EMR
- RN is occasionally required to titrate drips such as heparin and Bumex
- Support available from both charge nurse and house supervisor on all shifts
- RT equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow devices available
- Telemetry monitored by CCU staff with the tele board visible to Med/Surg staff
- RNs may be asked to float as "helping hands" to other departments if not fully cross-trained
- On low census, RNs must be able to report within 30 minutes of being called in
- RNs typically manage less than the maximum assigned patients due to strong staffing ratios
- Unit provides 3-6 orientation shifts, with additional time as needed
- Navy blue scrubs required for all shifts
- Holiday work requirements are negotiable
- RNs may care for general pediatric patients in addition to adults
- May apply for the Oregon 90-Day Emergency License if not currently licensed in Oregon
- Active OR RN license required; compact license not accepted unless endorsed by Oregon
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Must have experience caring for general medical-surgical and pediatric patients
- Experience with titration of common drips such as heparin and Bumex
- Experience with MEDITECH charting preferred
- Must provide a copy of a valid driver's license for consideration
- Submission requires 2 professional references: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
