Are you a dedicated general surgeon seeking a rewarding locum opportunity? St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton, OR, is actively seeking a qualified physician to provide exceptional surgical care for up to one year. What You Will Do:
As a Locum General Surgeon, you will attend scheduled outpatient clinics Monday through Friday, providing comprehensive post-operative care, consultations, and emergency surgeries. You will participate in 24-hour call coverage, responding promptly to traumas, urgent cases, and hospital needs. Your skills will help manage a diverse caseload, including diagnostic and screening colonoscopies, cholecystectomy, hernia repairs with mesh, appendectomies, breast excisions, skin excisions, and more.
You will work alongside a dedicated team supported by robust electronic medical records and hospital staff, ensuring seamless patient care.
Required Skills &
Qualifications:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
- Active and unrestricted medical license in Oregon or qualifying jurisdiction
- Proven experience managing a variety of general surgical procedures
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work independently while following hospital protocols
- Willingness to work in both clinic and hospital settings, including taking hospital call
Skills:
- Experience with EMR systems such as Meditech and eClinical
Works (eCW) - Prior locum or permanent experience in rural or community hospital environments
- Familiarity with trauma management and emergency surgery procedures
- Bilingual capabilities or proficiency in additional languages
Education & Experience:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- Completion of residency in General Surgery
- A minimum of 2 years of post-residency experience in acute care and outpatient surgical practice
- Availability to start as soon as credentialed, with a schedule supporting 20 days per month
- Ability to respond to trauma and emergency cases in a timely manner
- Willingness to work a 7-10 block schedule, with on-call duties and occasional weekend coverage
- Proof of full credentialing and hospital privileges in Oregon or eligible jurisdictions
- Travel arrangements:
Candidates should fly into Pasco, WA, and arrange transportation to Pendleton, OR - Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate; all malpractice, orientation, and travel reimbursements included (rate to be provided)
