We are seeking a hands-on Embedded Systems Engineer to design, develop, and support embedded systems and operator interfaces for industrial control products. This role spans software, embedded Linux, hardware interaction, and system-level troubleshooting in a real-world industrial environment. This is a hands-on role with significant system ownership from concept through production and field support.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working across disciplines and will collaborate closely with Sales, Service, Manufacturing, and Engineering to develop practical, reliable solutions for customers.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop embedded applications using C++ and Qt/QML
- Create and maintain Qt-based HMI interfaces for industrial equipment
- Customize and maintain embedded Linux systems using Yocto
- Develop and integrate industrial communication protocols, including CANopen
- Configure and troubleshoot field devices, networks, and control systems
- Perform system bring-up, integration, and performance optimization
- Develop and deploy system-level and board-level test solutions for validation and production
- Review and approve wiring diagrams and industrial control system designs for custom applications
- Diagnose and resolve issues across software, OS, and hardware layers
- Support product development from concept through prototype, validation, and production
- Read and interpret analog and digital schematics
- Work with manufacturing to ensure designs are production-ready and serviceable
- Document system architecture, design decisions, and troubleshooting procedures
- Work closely with Sales to support technical evaluations, customer requirements, and special applications
- Support Service with field issue analysis, root-cause determination, and corrective actions
- Collaborate with Manufacturing to improve product reliability, testability, and assembly processes
- Partner with Engineering on new product development, design reviews, and continuous improvement
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 5+ years experience in embedded or industrial control systems
- Strong proficiency in C++
- Experience developing interfaces using Qt/QML
- Hands‑on experience with embedded Linux and Yocto, specifically creating and modifying Yocto layers and recipes
- Experience with industrial control systems and field communications (CANopen preferred)
- Practical knowledge of power supplies, signal conditioning, analog interfacing, and hands‑on hardware debugging using lab tools (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.)
- Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills
- Ability to read and understand analog and digital circuit schematics
- Experience working directly with hardware during development and debugging
- Experience with PCB layout or board design
- Board bring‑up experience
- Familiarity with industrial protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, or MQTT
- Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and design‑for‑manufacturing (DFM) principles for industrial electronics
- Experience developing test fixtures or production test methods
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and automated build systems
- Familiarity with UL Certification process, UL508A, UL61010‑1
- Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Strong hands‑on problem solver who enjoys working at the system level
- Self‑starter who thrives in a practical, fast‑paced R&D environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical teams
- Customer‑focused mindset with an understanding of real‑world industrial applications
- Commitment to building robust, reliable products for long‑term field use
