General PurposeAs a member of the Store Leadership, the Area Supervisor is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the store as well as overall operations and supervision when acting as Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and supervising company operational processes.
Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments- Prioritizes safety and practices safe behaviors.
- Maintains high awareness on the sales floor, correcting or reporting unsafe conditions.
- Secures building access, electronic article surveillance daily checks, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
- Removes clutter and ensures clear egress to emergency exits.
- Ensures customer safety through accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Tests all fire alarm systems as scheduled and responds to after‑hours alarms when requested.
- Treats all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times; recognizes associates in company programs.
- Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
- Maintains a professional appearance and ensures associates adhere to the dress code.
- Keeps all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard; performs daily trash removal.
- Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards through instruction and follow‑up.
- Responsible for receiving merchandise trucks and all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
- Processes merchandise promptly and maintains stockroom cleanliness and organization.
- Assists in placing merchandise on the sales floor and secures back‑stock per policy.
- Promotes loss prevention through customer and associate engagement and heightened awareness.
- Encourages compliance with monthly presentation guidelines and facilitates floor moves and signage.
- Assist with re‑wraps as needed.
- Maintains a large customer‑service presence on the sales floor and engages in loss prevention awareness.
- Safeguards confidential information and merchandise.
- Maintains the Public View Monitor system and performs “Code 50” package inspections.
- Executes company best practices to maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches.
- Ensures associates perform front‑end duties to company standards.
- Maintains pace, energy, and presence at the front end, managing the line to expedite customer wait time.
- Trains and coaches associates on cash registers, shortage control, and other front‑end procedures to meet friendliness and productivity standards.
- Controls associate break schedules and ensures all equipment functions properly.
- Makes sure sell‑ability of merchandise and specialty racks remains high through proper “Scan and Bag” best practice and merchandising.
