Payroll & HR Coordinator (Part-Time)

Lakes Area Landscaping, LLC | Pelican Rapids / Detroit Lakes, MN

Position Overview

Lakes Area Landscaping, LLC is seeking a detail‑oriented Payroll & HR Coordinator to support payroll processing, benefits coordination, and employee compliance tracking. This role works closely with ownership and our accountant and is responsible for preparing, organizing, and reconciling payroll and HR information
.

This position is ideal for someone with payroll and HR coordination experience who enjoys accuracy, organization, and working behind the scenes to keep operations running smoothly.

We are looking to fill this role within the next 30–45 days.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare bi‑weekly payroll for owner approval

  • Collect, review, and verify employee timecards, PTO, and pay changes

  • Enter payroll data and deductions into Quick Books

  • Maintain accurate employee payroll and HR records

  • Coordinate benefits deductions (health insurance, AFLAC, MN PFML, 401(k), HSA)

  • Reconcile payroll deductions with benefit and retirement portals

  • Track DOT Health Card expirations and send renewal reminders

  • Prepare clean, organized payroll and benefits reports for accountant review

  • Support onboarding and offboarding documentation

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information

Final tax filings, regulatory submissions, and compliance determinations are handled by ownership and the company accountant.

Qualifications
  • Prior experience in payroll, HR coordination, or benefits administration

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Comfortable working with payroll systems (Quick Books preferred)

  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally

  • Organized, dependable, and deadline‑driven

  • Clear communication and willingness to elevate discrepancies
