POSITION PURPOSE

Maintain all QL-5 equipment, and buildings to keep them operating in a safe manner while eliminating downtime to maintain high utilization and throughput of product in a cost effective manner. Complete work as assigned by Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader, QL-5 Maintenance Planner or other departmental management personnel, in a safe and timely fashion.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Complete work as assigned by Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, QL-5 Maintenance Planner, Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader, QL-5 Shift Coordinator or other management personnel
  • Work closely with operations department personnel to reduce downtime and improve equipment utilization
  • Perform and/or assist in performing repairs and maintenance on all tools, machinery and equipment
  • Help ensure outside contractor employees adhere to company and OSHA standards in safety
  • Work with all outside contractor personnel to efficiently maintain the Heat Treat Department equipment as needed
  • Help enforce company practices and policies with outside contractors as well as maintenance personnel
  • Contribute to and participate in continuous improvement projects
  • Correct mechanical breakdowns and work to improve process and equipment to avoid future breakdowns
  • Read, interpret and understand blueprints and drawings including identifying parts to drawing and material identification
  • Use inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers and indicators
  • Interact with maintenance system, gathering work orders and updating the information in the system
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment as required and enter work orders
  • Perform necessary equipment walk through as needed
  • Continuously improve preventative maintenance program
  • Adhere to company and international standards in quality and environmental procedures
  • Follow all company and department practices and policies
  • Follow all safety and housekeeping policies and procedures
  • Address any safety related maintenance immediately or report to Shift Coordinator if unable to correct
QUALIFICATIONS

Competencies and Experience
Required
  • Minimum three (3) years of heavy industrial maintenance experience
  • Mid to high level of hydraulic troubleshooting skill
  • Experience with pneumatic and lubrication systems and alignment of equipment
  • High level of mechanical troubleshooting of industrial equipment
  • Good mechanical skills
  • Ability to handle several tasks at a time
  • Ability to adjust well to changing job responsibilities
Preferred
  • Advanced welding (carbon stainless aluminum) and cutting skills
  • Heat Treating experience – quench & temper, normalize
  • Mid to high level Maintenance Connection program experience
  • Industrial water system experience
  • Maintenance experience of furnaces, levelers, shears, shot blaster, roller tables and cranes
  • A high level of written and oral communication skills
  • Mid to high-level computer skills
  • Strong organizational skills
