CAD Draftsman

Insight Global is seeking a detail‑oriented and experienced CAD Draftsman to support our engineering and fabrication teams. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in AutoCAD, experience creating fabrication drawings, and the ability to translate concepts into accurate technical designs. This role will work closely with project managers, engineers, and fabrication personnel to produce high‑quality drawings that meet project specifications and manufacturing standards.

• Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings using AutoCAD.
• Create fabrication and shop drawings
  , including layout, cut lists, and material specifications.
• Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and project requirements to develop accurate drawings.
• Revise and update existing drawings based on engineering changes or production feedback.
• Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and installation teams to ensure drawings are accurate and buildable.
• Maintain organized drawing files, documentation, and revision history.
• Follow company drafting standards, fabrication tolerances, and material specifications.
• Assist in developing templates, drafting standards, and design improvements.
• Perform basic design calculations as needed to support project requirements.
• Ensure all drawings meet project deadlines and quality standards.
• Travel to different sites once or twice a month

• 3+ years of experience as a CAD Draftsman, CAD Designer, or similar role.
• Experience creating fabrication drawings (steel, sheet metal, mechanical components, structural, piping, or similar).
• Knowledge of fabrication processes such as welding, cutting, machining, or assembly.
• Understanding of material types, tolerances, and manufacturing limitations.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering notes.

• Experience in manufacturing, construction, mechanical systems, or structural steel.
• Knowledge of CNC machines or CAM software.
• Field or shop experience supporting fabrication or installation teams.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience machining components for industrial process equipment (fans, blowers, rotary feeders, air handling equipment, steel fabrication).
