Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Managing Attorney – Family Law to lead and support the firm’s Family Law practice. This is a senior-level role for a seasoned Texas family law attorney who will maintain an active caseload while mentoring junior attorneys and helping provide stability and leadership during a period of growth.

This position is a backfill for a departing Managing Attorney and offers immediate responsibility, strong operational support, and direct collaboration with firm ownership. The Managing Attorney will focus on practicing law and leading the legal team, while administrative, marketing, and operational functions are handled by the firm.

For the right candidate, the role may initially be scoped as a Senior Family Law Attorney, with a clear path into full Managing Attorney responsibilities as the practice continues to scale.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the Family Law practice
  • Maintain an active family law caseload, including complex matters
  • Meet established billable hour expectations annually consistent with firm standards
  • Mentor and support associate attorneys
  • Provide guidance on case strategy, quality control, and client service
  • Oversee case flow and ensure consistency across the team
  • Collaborate with firm ownership on staffing, workflow, and practice growth
  • Serve as a steady, reliable presence for both clients and staff
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of family law experience practicing in Texas
  • Strong litigation experience in family law matters
  • Ability to manage an active caseload while meeting billing expectations
  • Experience mentoring, supporting, or informally leading junior attorneys
  • Strong communication, organization, and client-management skills
  • Ability to work onsite in the Angleton / Pearland / League City area
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a Managing Attorney, Supervising Attorney, or Practice Group Lead
  • Experience working in firms with strong infrastructure and support staff
  • Background helping stabilize or scale a growing legal practice
  • Spanish fluency
  • Senior family law attorneys interested in growing into long-term leadership roles
  • Base Salary: $150,000 – $225,000 (commensurate with experience) + Bonus
  • Compensation flexibility for strong candidates, including potential performance-based or percentage-of-billings structures
