The Wound Care Nurse plays a vital role in assuring quality, safety, service, and access within our Advanced Healing Centers. This is a multi-function, cross-trained role focusing on:
The position is designed for licensed nurses (LVNs) and experienced clinical staff with wound care backgrounds. All team members receive best-in-class training in wound care and hyperbarics.
Duties and Responsibilities Patient Care Coordination- Greet patients and visitors, answer phones, and schedule appointments professionally and timely.
- Process referrals (faxed, in-house, or provider calls) and obtain PCP referrals when required.
- Ensure complete and accurate registration, including demographics and insurance.
- Verify insurance benefits, secure prior authorizations, and communicate requirements to patients.
- Place outbound calls to schedule and follow-up.
- Coordinate referrals and provide “white glove” service to partners and patients.
- Assist providers with wound care procedures and patient visits.
- Obtain chief complaint, histories (medical, surgical, social, family), and review of systems.
- Take and record vitals, document in EMR, and assist with clinical orders.
- Track and maintain medical/office supply inventory.
- Maintain accurate records including allergies, medications, histories, and external medical records.
- Follow all emergency protocols and know protocol locations.
- Deliver hyperbaric medicine to patients per established protocols.
- Perform pre- and post-dive vitals and glucose testing.
- Inspect and maintain hyperbaric chambers daily.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable hyperbaric safety codes.
- Maintain complete patient records for each treatment session.
- Remain knowledgeable of emergency procedures.
- Licensure/Certification Pathways (at least one required):
• Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) – Texas Board of Nursing
, or
• Medical Assistant certification from accredited program (must obtain within set timeframe if not currently certified). - BLS certification required.
- Prior wound care or hyperbaric experience preferred.
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal).
- Compassionate, patient-focused bedside manner.
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude and professional demeanor.
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
