Specialist, Special Programs

Primary Purpose

Provide specialized guidance to support students with diverse learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs by collaborating with campus and district staff to promote compliant, high-quality instructional practices, positive behavior supports, and data-informed decisions. The specialist assists in strengthening systems, building staff capacity, and supporting continuous improvement to enhance student outcomes in alignment with federal, state, and district requirements.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or a related field.
• Certifications: Special Education Certification or other relevant certification/licensure. CPI trainer preferred.
• Experience: Experience teaching in a Special Education Specialized Program, collaborative problem solving, instructional practices for students with disabilities.
• Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge: Knowledge of Federal and State requirements of IDEA, including IEP process, paperwork, and requirements.

• Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including personal computer and peripherals.
• Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
• Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
• Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds).
• Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; occasional statewide travel and out-of-state travel.
• Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress.

Pay Grade: AE104

Days/Contract Status: 215 Days/Exempt - Non-Contract
