Alpha is opening a flagship campus in Houston. We seek a leader familiar with the local education landscape to manage 15+ Guides who coach and inspire students while our EdTech platform delivers instruction. No traditional teaching required.
Your objective is to ensure every student enjoys school, progresses twice as fast as conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This is not a conventional Principal position; you will maintain rigorous standards, rely on data to inform decisions, and establish Houston's top‑performing school from day one.
What You Will Be Doing- Launch Alpha’s flagship Houston campus:
Execute Alpha’s three core promises to 100+ students from day one with operational excellence across all functions. - Facilitate live workshops for K‑12 students on life skills:
Conduct engaging one‑hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback; implement Alpha’s playbook to develop overlooked skills while maintaining high engagement. - Drive every student toward 100 % goal achievement:
Create individualized motivational strategies; apply data‑driven methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform; success is defined by every student reaching their goals. - Develop Guides through targeted coaching:
Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to pinpoint performance shortfalls; provide clear, actionable feedback during coaching sessions and monitor progress; maintain team accountability through logic and objectivity. - Lead campus operations through data analysis:
Evaluate performance across staff, operations, parent engagement, and culture; identify problems, perform root‑cause analysis, consult stakeholders, and implement measurable interventions; monitor decisions and refine based on outcomes. - Uphold excellence without exception:
Establish and sustain Alpha’s quality standards for students and staff; make difficult decisions when performance does not meet expectations; model the standard of excellence across your campus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field;
Master’s preferred. - At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field.
- Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority.
- Deep knowledge of the Houston (or wider Texas) education landscape.
- Experience working with youth ages 5–14.
- Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision‑making and continuous improvement.
- Passion for transforming education and belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
- Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable to new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch.
- Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention in rooms full of students or staff.
- Able to relate to K‑12 students, understand their interests and culture, serve as a positive role model.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Workingwith Us
This is a full‑time (40 hours per week), long‑term position available immediately. The role requires an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. Compensation is $100 USD per hour, equating to $200,000 USD per year for 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. Payment is weekly.
