Overview
The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a Part-Time Summer Camp Coordinator to assist with the administrative and communication aspects of the day-to-day operations of our summer camp programs. The role focuses on organization, communication, and camper coordination while working adjacent to the camp activities. The Part-Time Summer Camp Coordinator earns a competitive salary of $16.29 - $17.63/hour, based on qualifications. Responsibilities- Be a role model to campers and staff in attitude and behavior.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to work with children in a camp atmosphere.
- Exercise effective communication with parents and staff.
- Ensure lesson plans and daily schedules are prepared and implemented to meet camp outcomes and the abilities of the campers.
- Supervise and evaluate Camp Counselors to develop and implement all facets of camp program activities.
- Coordinate and assist staff training with the Youth Development Coordinator.
- Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures during camp programs.
- Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areas.
- Provide and distribute information to parents regarding programs, activities, schedules, and events.
- Develop and implement schedules and records for all areas of camp programming.
- Demonstrate and educate staff on proper methods of equipment storage and cleaning to safeguard facilities and equipment.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Planning Dates:
April – May (no more than 20 hours/week). Camp Dates:
June 1 - August 7.
Hours:
Monday - Friday from approximately 7:45 am to 5:30 pm.
- Minimum
Education and Experience:
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in dealing with children ages 6-14 in a non-parental, but supervisory role such as a teacher, counselor, or camp director preferred. - Special Certifications and Licenses:
Some experience working with children ages 6-14, required. Current certification in First Aid and CPR, or the ability to obtain within two (2) months of hire date.
