Job DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Customer Service Supervisor, the employee answers all patient telephone inquiries related to patient accounts, billing, insurance information, collection accounts, and general patient concerns. The employee must maintain effective communication with all customers—both internal and external—including co‑workers, and provide clear, grammatically correct written responses to patient communications as required. The employee works closely with team leads and the supervisor to address issues and identify problems, planning and organizing their own work to ensure timely responses and accurate documentation.
The goal is to answer patient inquiries on the first call whenever possible.
- Answer patient telephone inquiries regarding billing, insurance, collections, and general concerns.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with patients and internal staff.
- Provide written responses that are clear and grammatically correct.
- Collaborate with team leads and supervisor to address issues and identify problems.
- Plan and organize work to ensure timely, accurate documentation in patient accounts.
- Work independently and as part of a team, aiming for first‑call resolution.
- Education: High School diploma or GED (required);
Associates Degree or Billing and Coding Certificate (preferred). - Experience: 3 years in a health care call center or medical insurance environment (required).

Skills:
Knowledge of insurance billing, KSC contracted health plans’ rules, regulations, and medical policies; basic medical terminology, ICD
10 and CPT coding; ability to navigate software applications and online resources; analytical skills for rapid evaluation and first‑call resolution; computer skills including basic MS Word & Excel, Epic Resolute (preferred). - Other: Excellent communication and telephone etiquette, problem‑solving, active listening skills; clear, grammatically correct written communications;
Spanish speaker (preferred).
