The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a Part-Time Summer Camp Coordinator to assist with the administrative and communication aspects of the day-to-day operations of our summer camp programs.

The Part-Time Summer Camp Coordinator earns a competitive salary of $16.29 - $17.63/hour, based on qualifications. We also offer access to the city's recreation fitness center and employee assistance program.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A PART-TIME SUMMER CAMP COORDINATORPlanning Dates:
April - May (no more than 20hrs/week)
Camp Dates:
June 1 - August 7
Hours:
Monday - Friday from approximately 7:45 am to 5:30 pm
The purpose of this class within the organization is to program and supervise the Day Camp Program for the Parks and Recreation Department. Design and deliver program activities, various communications to parents and/or guardians, manage camp documentation, and ensure that the camp environment remains safe, fun, and appropriate for all campers ages and abilities. Assist in the management of the overall camp operation at the direction of the Youth Development Coordinator.
This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Essential Functions- Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to work with children in a camp atmosphere.
- Exercise effective communication with parents and staff.
- Ensure lesson plans and daily schedules are prepared and implemented that meet camp outcomes and the abilities of the campers.
- Supervise and evaluate Camp Counselors to develop and implement all facets of camp program activities.
- Coordinate and assist staff training with Youth Development Coordinator.
- Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures during camp programs.
- Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areas.
- Provide and distribute information to parents regarding programs, activities, schedules, and events.
- Develop and implement schedules and records for all areas of camp programming.
- Demonstrate and educate staff the proper methods of equipment storage and cleaning to safeguard facilities and equipment.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in dealing with children ages 6-14 in a non-parental, but supervisory role such as a teacher, counselor, or camp director preferred.
- Some experience working with children ages 6-14, required.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR, or the ability to obtain within two (2) months of hire date.
Salary: $16.29 - $17.63 per hour
