Salary:
Data Processing User Support Technician II, SR-15: $4,221.00 per month.
- Provides training and assistance to users on system equipment, procedures and computer application programs. Conducts hands‑on training for proprietary departmental information systems (e.g., Financial Management System, Local School Accounting, Time & Attendance, eSIS, Form 7, Casual Payroll), including installation, configuration, network and VPN connections, proper equipment procedures, keyboard operation, logging on/off systems, and related tasks. Prepares training outlines, lesson plans, visual aids, exercises and informational material.
Updates training whenever new releases or upgrades occur. - Troubleshoots hardware and software problems (operating systems, internet, Microsoft Office, electronic mail, etc.), diagnoses causes of interruptions, takes corrective action, consults manuals, vendors or higher‑level personnel as needed, and records problems and resolutions for future reference. Participates in testing of new software releases, identifies problems and recommends solutions.
- Maintains contact with users to monitor training effectiveness and reinforce training. Responds to questions about software capabilities and assists users in simplifying creation and maintenance of proprietary departmental information systems by suggesting relevant operations.
- Assists users in creating models, worksheets, electronic forms, data files, etc., to support specific financial, budgetary or operational departmental requirements; performs rudimentary programming tasks (e.g., generating ad‑hoc reports).
- Performs site‑based installation and re‑installation of system hardware and software and other PC‑supported applications.
- Schedules and coordinates training center activities (training classes, video conferences), orders supplies, maintains inventory, coordinates equipment maintenance and repair, maintains training center servers, and tracks training center expenditures.
High‑school graduation with satisfactory completion of English grammar, spelling and punctuation courses, or equivalent experience demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience:
Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and write clearly about complex materials such as rules, procedures or policies. - Specialized
Experience:
Demonstrated effective use of personal computers, peripheral equipment (printers, modems, disks, etc.) and a variety of applications (word processing, electronic mail, spreadsheets, database management). At least one year of work experience providing assistance and advice to users in resolving hardware and software problems. - For the II level, at least one year of experience preparing outlines, visual aids and informational material for group presentations and directly interacting with people to provide technical instructions.
- Two additional years of overall experience are required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education or a professional diploma in Education (all General Experience).
- Fifteen semester credits from an accredited college or university (up to one year of General Experience).
- Bachelor’s degree in Information and Computer Science or Associate in Science Degree in Data Processing (all Specialized Experience).
- Certificate of Achievement (30 credits) in Data Processing (one year of Specialized Experience).
- Certificate of Completion (12 credits) in Data Processing (six months of Specialized Experience, not for troubleshooting experience).
Ability to lift/carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
