Job Description
- The Manufacturing Engineer will support the development and scaling of manufacturing processes for surgical robotic systems.
- The role focuses on improving manufacturability, supporting production operations, designing assembly fixtures, and ensuring compliance with medical device quality systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated electro-mechanical or process engineering expertise.
- Strong experience in failure analysis and continuous improvement practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a hands-on engineering and manufacturing environment.
- Relevant experience in manufacturing engineering or process engineering.
- Experience supporting manufacturing processes for complex electro-mechanical products.
- Experience troubleshooting production issues and performing root cause analysis.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
- Duplicate, qualify, and scale manufacturing lines for surgical robotic systems in a new facility.
- Provide design for manufacturability feedback to improve product manufacturability and serviceability.
- Take ownership of products from production through end-of-life.
- Develop and maintain efficient manufacturing assembly processes including BOMs, workflows, and work instructions.
- Train and support production technicians.
- Design, qualify, document, and introduce production and service assembly and testing fixtures and equipment.
- Maintain compliance with medical device quality systems including corrective actions and change implementation.
- Provide technical support and perform failure analysis for production components and assemblies.
- Lead or participate in initiatives to improve yield, reduce material costs, and increase manufacturing capacity.
- Collaborate with multiple departments including product development, purchasing, inspection, and customer support.
- Manage resources across multiple engineering and manufacturing projects.
- Create budget estimates for tooling, test equipment, prototype development, and validation activities.
- Support supplier development and contract manufacturer management.
- Manufacturing process development and optimization.
- Electro-mechanical systems troubleshooting and failure analysis.
- Continuous improvement and yield enhancement.
- Technical documentation and engineering communication.
- Cross-functional collaboration and project coordination.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent engineering discipline.
- Relevant experience in manufacturing or design engineering.
- Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
- Experience supporting products with significant mechanical content.
- Experience with sensor technologies and reliability testing.
- Experience working in regulated environments such as FDA or ISO.
- Experience designing experiments and validating manufacturing processes.
- Project leadership experience.
- Supplier quality or supplier management experience.
