Fortune‑Johnson General Contractors is seeking an Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter that embraces ambiguity, thinks big, and brings their own uncompromising standards of excellence. This position will be responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring all data is gathered to successfully bid and win construction projects. This person will work closely with Project Management and development teams to ensure project success.
PrimaryJob Responsibilities
- Sending requests for proposals, following up with subcontractors to ensure bids are received, reviewed thoroughly and analyzed in a timely manner.
- Tracks and reviews subcontractor bid packages.
- Completes material take-offs for all building materials purchased directly.
- Thorough understanding of historical costs, understand logistical and or cost impacts to the budget of details and materials specified.
- Completes estimates in Timberline.
- Ability to create strong relationships with owners, subcontractors, and operations.
- Staying up to date on market and industry trends.
- Degree in construction, engineering, or related discipline
- 2+ years experience construction estimating experience – local trade contractor market knowledge a plus, prior construction field experience is a plus
- Knowledge of construction materials and processes.
- Computer skills, including proficiency in Timberline, Cortex, Bluebeam, Excel, Power Point
- Proactive and work with a sense of urgency.
- Strong relationships and partnerships with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors and development.
- Solid communication skills, through strong attention to detail, and ability to help facilitate meetings.
- Leader and company team player.
- Effectively coordinate, organize, plan, and manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results.
- Maintains focus while working in a high level, fast paced environment.
