Overview
Payson Family Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our afternoon surgery and urgent care team. Our Veterinary Assistants are key in providing exceptional patient care, focusing on surgery and hospitalized patients. They coordinate and execute treatment plans while offering compassionate and thorough care. This full-time position includes four 9-hour shifts per week, with shifts from 12 PM (noon) to 9 PM, Monday through Saturday.
Surgeries begin at 1 PM, providing a dynamic mix of surgery, urgent cases, routine care, and hospitalized-pet care. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys an active, varied environment.
Position Details
- Shift: Full-time, 10-hour shifts, Monday through Saturday. Afternoons from 12 PM (noon) to 10 PM.
- Specialty surgeries begin at 1 PM, including orthopedic surgeries.
- Emergency cases are seen regularly.
- Shift differential applies starting at 7 PM Monday through Friday and all day Saturday.
Full-Time Benefits and Compensation
- Compensation: $18-20/hour for each hour worked
- Bonus Package: $500 for those with 3+ years of consecutive, current VA experience

Required Qualifications and Skills
- 1+ years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting
- Commitment to a career in veterinary medicine with ongoing training
- Proficiency in the following skills:
- Inpatient Care
- Radiology
- Phlebotomy
- Injections
