Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Aerospace / Aviation / Avionics, Engineering Design & Technologists
Imagine this… You're on the test field, watching a UAV come to life powered by a system you engineered. Every component, connection, and safety mechanism—built through your design and expertise—operating flawlessly under demanding conditions. We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer – SAFing Systems with at least 8 years of R&D experience, strong applied engineering skills, and an aptitude for leading engineering projects.
In this role you will design, develop, test, and coordinate implementation of SAFing systems energetics‑based products on UAV platforms, including fuze, SAU design, ISD, and various interfacing systems for launch environmental sensing.
At Destinus, we are revolutionizing the defense industry with cutting‑edge UAVs. Our innovative technologies meet the unique demands of modern defense operations, delivering speed, precision, and cost effectiveness. Destinus partners with government agencies and defense organizations worldwide to provide advanced solutions for mission‑critical operations, enabling a new era of efficiency and technological superiority. Join us in shaping the future of defense with groundbreaking aerospace innovations.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Work on design projects for airborne munitions components and systems from the conceptual phase through manufacturing, integration, and testing.
- Generate 3D CAD models, drawings, schematics, bills of material, and other related documentation required for manufacturing, integration, and testing.
- Design and qualify energetic and pyrotechnic sub‑systems for defense applications.
- Deliver technical documentation, including engineering calculations, analysis, and assumptions to substantiate design decisions and solutions.
- Manage suppliers and manufacturers, addressing technical questions and resolving issues that arise during manufacturing.
- Select standard parts, fasteners, equipment, and consumables following best practices and industry standards.
- Contribute to the DMU and configuration management.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes in safety‑critical or defense areas (machining, sheet metal forming, composites, additive manufacturing).
- Experience in design and manufacturing of warheads and munitions, especially SAU, ISD, and fuzes.
- Excellent CAD and PLM knowledge—part design, DWGs, DMU management.
- Strong engineering fundamentals and analytical skills—dimensioning calculations, load path definitions, basic stress calculations, energy, and power.
- Significant advantage to have worked in fuzing/SAU or ISD design for energetic systems.
- Experience with STANAG standards and designing safety‑critical systems.
- ISO/ASME GD&T knowledge a plus.
- Proficiency in Siemens tool suite—NX and Team Center PLM system, would be a plus.
- Good engineering material properties knowledge.
- Explosives handling licence would be a plus.
- BSc., MSc. in mechanical or mechatronic engineering (technician qualifications with substantial experience also considered).
- Fluent in English as working language.
You're a hands‑on engineer who lives for complex challenges and bold ideas. You thrive where innovation meets precision and are not afraid to push boundaries to make things work better, faster, and safer. You have spent years turning concepts into real, testable, high‑performance systems and still get that spark when a design comes to life. You own your projects end‑to‑end, from whiteboard sketches to field tests, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to make things fly.
You balance creativity with rigor, bringing analytical thinking and practical problem‑solving to the table. When the mission gets tough, you stay curious, focused, and relentless in the pursuit of engineering excellence.
