Truex, Inc., a privately held company under common ownership with Teknor Apex, is a U.S. manufacturer specializing in precision metal stampings and related products. The company was founded in 1976 and has grown from supplying couplings for the garden hose industry to becoming a world‑wide supplier of deep drawn stamped parts, ferrules, hose couplings, fittings, and assemblies used across multiple industries including automotive, appliance, electrical, hardware, and more.
Truex conducts stamping, drawing, annealing, assembly, and metal finishing operations at its facility in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, producing large volumes of precision metal components.
This role is responsible for providing strategic leadership across Sales, Marketing, and Engineering to drive profitable growth aligned with company objectives. As a member of the management team, the position develops and executes sales strategy, strengthens customer relationships, and ensures market opportunities are effectively translated into operational and engineering execution. The role requires strong technical acumen, analytical capability, and cross‑functional leadership to align commercial strategy with manufacturing capabilities, optimize product quality and productivity, and support long‑term business growth.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Serve as a member of the management team, participating in overall strategic planning for the organization.
- Analyze sales and marketing data to support strategic planning and provide actionable insights, recommendations, and forecasts.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive Sales Strategic Plan aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
- Provide leadership and direction to the sales and marketing team, as well as external manufacturer representatives, to drive growth and secure approvals for expanded business.
- Build and grow relationships with existing customers by promoting new and existing products and capabilities.
- Maintain the Sales Management System (SMS), ensuring accurate tracking of customer activity, opportunities, and performance metrics.
- Develop and manage a lead tracking system to monitor and convert prospective business.
- Ensure manufacturer representatives are fully knowledgeable of Truex’s capabilities, product offerings, and target markets.
- Provide timely market intelligence to the management team to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities.
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and industry‑related seminars.
- Oversee internet advertising initiatives and the company website to ensure maximum visibility and brand presence.
- Lead and direct the Engineering department to ensure timely and effective completion of projects.
- Collaborate with the management team to establish product specifications, process requirements, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Apply engineering principles to optimize manufacturing quality, efficiency, and productivity.
- Ensure engineering systems, records, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are properly maintained and followed.
- Participate in product costing activities to ensure accurate pricing.
- Partner with Quality and Manufacturing teams to resolve product, process, and customer‑related issues.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work in a non‑standardized, highly complex environment requiring strong analytical skills and inductive reasoning to develop new approaches where traditional methods are insufficient.
- Strong knowledge of sales, marketing, and strategic planning for growth in targeted and adjacent markets.
- Proven ability to train, motivate, and develop employees across sales and engineering functions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage sales teams, customers, and internal stakeholders across the organization.
- Demonstrated leadership, decision‑making, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business, or a related field required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of management experience, including at least two (2) years in a risk management or similarly accountable leadership role.
- 5‑7 years of experience in technical sales and sales management.
- Working knowledge of metal stamping processes, with the ability to identify opportunities aligned with Truex’s manufacturing capabilities.
