Job DescriptionWe’re seeking skilled technicians to join our network as independent contractors specializing in fleet automotive electronics installations. This work includes installing, troubleshooting, and repairing GPS trackers, dash cameras, and other fleet telematics systems in a variety of vehicles—primarily cars, trucks, and semis.
This opportunity is strictly 1099 independent contractor work — not a W-2 employment position. Contractors maintain control over their schedules and accept assignments based on availability. We have work available in your area which involves traveling to customer locations to complete professional mobile electronics installations with quality workmanship and strong customer service.
Compensation is competitive and paid per completed job. We’re seeking reliable, detail-oriented technicians with experience in low-voltage vehicle installations who operate as independent contractors.
Scope of Work:
- Perform installation and configuration of aftermarket automotive electronics, including GPS trackers, dash cameras, remote start systems, and other fleet telematics devices.
- Deliver high-quality workmanship from start to finish to support customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate documentation for each completed job and ensure installations meet project specifications and fleet system requirements.
- Communicate professionally with customers at job sites.
- Utilize DRIG’s systems to access job details, upload required documentation, and manage accepted jobs.
- Follow applicable safety and compliance standards to reduce return visits and ensure proper installation quality.
- As part of DRIG’s quality assurance process, contractors are required to coordinate with DRIG’s Quality Control team at the start of each job to review project scope, specifications, and quality expectations.
- Experience installing aftermarket automotive electronics in vehicles, including GPS trackers, dash cameras, car audio systems, remote starts, alarms, and vehicle lighting.
- Solid understanding of 12-volt vehicle wiring.
- Ability to supply your own tools and materials necessary to complete professional installations.
- Reliable vehicle to travel to customer locations as needed.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Smartphone or tablet to access job details, submit documentation, verify installations, and communicate as needed.
- MECP certification is a plus, but not required.
- Contractors must be able to pass a background and drug screening.
- Flexible Schedule, Competitive Pay – Enjoy the flexibility of 1099 independent contractor work with competitive per-install compensation. Many contractors earn the equivalent of $30–$60 or more per hour, depending on job type and contractor efficiency.
- Mileage Reimbursement – Mileage reimbursement rates range from $0.58 to $0.72 per mile (round trip), depending on project details.
- Reliable, Consistent Payments – Payments are issued via direct deposit on the first and third Friday of each month for completed and approved work.
- Quality Assurance Support – Access to DRIG’s Quality Control (QC) team for project-related questions, system guidance, and quality review to help ensure installations meet specifications.
- Travel Coordination for Out-of-Area Projects – For approved projects outside your local area, DRIG’s travel team coordinates flights, hotels, and rental vehicles.
- Work with Industry Leaders – DRIG works with major partners such as Verizon and AT&T, providing consistent installation opportunities nationwide.
