Job Description
Responsible for performing diagnostic imaging exams; preparation, and administration of recommended adjunct radiopharmaceuticals in either an inpatient and/or outpatient setting in accordance with established protocols for positioning, image quality, radiation safety, and MRI safety. Utilizes a variety of specialized equipment to produce diagnostic images including handling of radioactive materials, as well as computers and various software programs to enter patient related information into hospital databases.
Provides guidance to technological staff in order to ensure a high quality of work. Assists in the orientation and training of newly hired staff. Responsible for assisting with the scheduling, staffing, and operational aspects of the nuclear medicine section in the department. Contributes to the overall excellence of the department through commitment to personal excellence in technical and interpersonal skills.
Work requires a High School diploma or equivalent. Work required the level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine and three years of nuclear medicine required. ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology) or NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) is required. State of New Jersey licensure in Radiologic Technology is required. Certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) granted through the American Heart Association is required within 12 months of hire.
IV certification granted through the hospital education department is required within 12 month of hire. Requires the analytical ability to resolve problems that require the use of basic specific, mathematical, or technical principles and in depth experience based knowledge. Requires the ability to explain clinical, technical, and diagnostic procedures to patients and their families.
