Job Description
Provides mental health screening assessments and makes appropriate interventions and referrals, in consultation with Supervisor and the on‑site or on‑call psychiatrist. Provides a full range of mental health treatment services 24/7, including:
- Mobile Outreach/Screening
- Responding to hotline calls
- Assessments
- Crisis counseling
- Case management
- Participating in interdisciplinary treatment planning, record keeping, consultation and education
- Providing care to patients ranging in age from child through geriatric
- Acting as clinical liaison as necessary between psychiatrists, RN and ER attending
Qualifications
Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Master’s degree in social work, psychology or a closely related field; one year of experience in a psychiatric setting plus three to six months of on‑the‑job training and orientation or a Bachelor’s degree and two to three years of previous experience. A valid driver’s license is required, as well as compliance with qualifications to drive a system vehicle.
Work requires analytical ability to collect information, apply professional principles, summarize data, solve problems, prepare detailed assessments, counseling individuals, groups or families, and perform other duties requiring a comparable level of communication skill. Work requires providing direct, age‑specific patient care as appropriate to the treatment setting.

St. Joseph’s Health provides a salary range to comply with New Jersey Law. The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The salary range does not include incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation.
