NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:
The Assistant Superintendent will monitor, coordinate and supervise all school operations, including but not limited to: student achievement, staff evaluations, parent involvement, school safety, personnel decisions, principal performance, staff attendance, facility issues, school climate, data analysis and how it drives instruction, budget development, professional development, leadership training, and community partnerships. The Assistant Superintendent provides leadership in promoting the educational objectives and values of collaborative planning, district curriculum, effective instruction practices and responsive programs and services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold a New Jersey Administrative Certificate in accordance with the requirements of N.J.S.A. 18A:27.1 et seq., and N.J.A.C. Title 6 Chapter 11, with a School Administrator endorsement (N.J.A.C. 6:11-9.3 and 9.6).
- Hold a Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- Have three (3) years of experience as a Principal.
- Have at least ten (10) years of experience as a teacher, counselor and/or supervisor/administrator preferred.
- Have experience working in a multicultural/urban environment.
- Have experience working in central office preferred.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of student and program assessment, data analysis, program development and evaluation, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, research related to learning and curriculum implementation.
- Must be able to discuss academic programs and strategies that they have implemented that show gains in achievement levels.
- Must be able to provide measurable data showing an increase in achievement results under their leadership.
- Must be able to provide measurable data showing a decrease in the achievement gap between demographic groups under their leadership.
- Ability to utilize data-driven decision making.
- Strong ability to problem solve.
- Must be proficient with data analysis.
- Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license with no serious violations (optional).
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to motivate people.
- Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the regulations regarding the operations of schools and academies.
- Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and the interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary, multilingual preferred.
- Demonstrate the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications.
- Provide proof of U. S. citizenship or legal resident alien status by completing Federal Form I-9 in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
- Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of Education. During the initial six month period provide a sworn statement that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person’s offense in accordance with 18A:6-7.1.
- Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4.
