CVICU / Open Heart RN – Passaic, NJ
Weekly Gross: $2,522
- Taxable: $23/hr
- Stipend: $1,694/week
A facility in Passaic, NJ is seeking experienced CVICU RNs with Open Heart recovery experience for per‑diem assignments. Both Day Shift (3 openings) and Night Shift (3 openings) are available. This role is ideal for highly skilled critical care nurses who are confident managing post‑operative open‑heart patients and general ICU populations.
Position Overview:
The CVICU RN is responsible for delivering safe, high‑quality patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role includes direct patient care, patient/family education, and coordination with the interdisciplinary team. RNs must be able to respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and manage complex hemodynamic and post‑operative needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Recover and manage open‑heart surgical patients in a CVICU setting
- Provide comprehensive care to general ICU patients as needed
- Perform hemodynamic monitoring and interpret clinical changes
- Communicate effectively with physicians regarding patient status, diagnostics, and interventions
- Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, and adherence to all standards of care
- Guide and support patient/family education
- Adapt quickly to changing clinical conditions and respond accurately to emergent situations
Requirements:
- Current and valid RN license (New Jersey)
- BLS – Required
- ACLS – Required
- Minimum 1 year of acute care critical care experience
- Open Heart / CVICU experience required
- CCRN preferred
- COVID vaccination/boosters preferred
Additional Details:
- Must be comfortable with high‑acuity cardiac patients and post‑operative recovery
- Strong clinical judgment and rapid‑response capability essential
