Job Summary

The Click & Collect Clerk is responsible for fulfilling grocery orders placed online and delivered to the customers when they arrive at the store. The Click & Collect Clerk is instrumental in providing a positive shopping experience for all customers and will support other customer service deliverables across other departments.

Essential Functions of the Position
  • Shop and stage orders for the customers who have placed an order online.
  • Deliver orders to the customer when they arrive at the store for pickup.
  • Review orders from the app when it alerts that an order has been placed.
  • Locate and carefully select the correct items from the order list.
  • Communicate with customers when items are unavailable.
  • Check expiration date, quality, and condition of all items when selecting.
  • Go through checkout when shopping is completed to complete transactions.
  • Assist with returning all products to shelves that customers have moved or returned before purchase, often called “go-backs.”
  • Assist in maintaining inventory control to ensure freshness, product quality, and turnover for maximum sales and to minimize out‑of‑stock or over‑stock products.
  • Provide friendly and helpful customer service at all times.
Knowledge
  • Familiarity with product location in the store.
  • Identification of appropriate product substitution, based on customer input.
  • Understanding of customer service best practices and strategies to enhance customer engagement.
Skills
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members alike.
  • Strong time management skills, meeting strict timelines for fulfillment and task prioritization during peak hours.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in product selection/order fulfillment.
  • Basic technology skills to utilize handheld devices and navigate applications.
Abilities
  • Ability to lift and carry groceries, using proper ergonomics and exercising product care.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations, manage multiple demands, and work effectively with diverse personalities.
  • Ability to work in a high‑volume environment, while remaining calm under pressure and maintaining a professional disposition.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8‑hour shifts.
  • Lift and carry items up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Perform repetitive motions such as reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, and handling products.
  • Move quickly and efficiently to assist customers and manage workload.
  • Maintain physical stamina to work in a fast‑paced environment.
Work Conditions
  • Work Hours:

    Vary, with availability required on weekends, evenings, and holidays; typically, 8‑hour shifts for full‑time employees.
  • Environment:
    Indoor and outdoor, with exposure to seasonal weather conditions.
  • Primary Workstations:
    Throughout store, at check stands, and parking lot.
  • Dress Code:
    Professional and presentable attire as determined by store management, including a name tag, company‑issued shirts, hats, jackets, or personal shirts that are black, burgundy, or blue, in good repair, and not faded.
