DescriptionSummary: Under the supervision of the service manager, perform system design, troubleshooting, programming, and installations. Optimize, maintain, and repair 2-way and wireless communication systems, including complex radio systems and 911 communications centers for customers.
Essential Functions:- Diagnose, troubleshoot, discuss, and resolve radio/wireless communication equipment issues with customers in person, by phone, email, or at the shop.
- Perform diagnostic tests to repair radio/wireless communication equipment such as dispatch consoles, paging infrastructure, trunked radio systems, and mobile installations.
- Analyze diagnostic test results to repair and program radios and wireless equipment.
- Coordinate with customers, vendors, and management to meet deadlines and customer needs for repairs, maintenance, and programming.
- Prepare quotes and bids.
- Act as the shop’s safety coordinator, collaborating on safety training and implementation.
- Perform radio communication system programming following industry and vendor standards.
- Install radio and wireless mobile and base communication systems per industry standards.
- Report accidents, maintenance needs, or repairs, and practice safe driving procedures.
- Work Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with on-call duties including overtime.
- Travel locally or overnight as required.
- 3-5 years of experience in 2-way radio and wireless communication systems, including diagnostics, repair, and troubleshooting.
- Associate degree or equivalent in electronics and wireless system repair preferred.
- Experience with dispatch consoles, paging infrastructure, trunked radio systems, and mobile installations.
- Knowledge of radio repair, DC, AC, RF Theory.
- FCC GROL license.
- Valid driver’s license and insurability.
- CET or NABER certification preferred.
