Nutrition Services – 1st Helper – Maya Angelou
Location: Maya Angelou, Pasco, Washington
Schedule: 5 hours per day, Monday–Friday
Salary: $20.71 – $21.12 per hour
Education supplements: $0.50 per hour for AA, $0.75 per hour for BA

Qualifications – Required- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Washington State Department of Health Food Worker’s Card
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations and operate kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of modern food preparation methods, health codes, sanitation principles, and nutritional requirements
- Ability to lift and move 40 pounds; stand for prolonged periods
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service orientation
- Professional demeanor, confidentiality, and punctuality
- Ability to handle cashier duties
- Serv Safe Certified, completion of a 10‑hour food safety and sanitation class
- Assist in preparing, cooking, baking, and distributing food under the supervision of the Unit Manager.
- Maintain kitchen and dining areas in sanitary condition to meet health inspection requirements.
- Assist in the preparation, serving, storage, and disposal of food; clean dining and kitchen areas daily.
- Prepare food and beverage items to meet nutritional and projected meal requirements.
- Cook and bake foods, both pre‑made and from scratch, ensuring projected meal targets.
- Estimate food preparation amounts and manage unused food waste.
- Open cans, apportion contents, wash and prepare vegetables.
- Inspect foods and supplies for quantity and specification compliance.
- Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans; replenish food and condiment containers.
- Set up and serve a la carte and bag lunches.
- Lead student or volunteer work when appropriate.
- Report equipment malfunctions and ensure a safe working environment.
- Respond to inquiries from students, staff, and the public about food items.
- Assist with year‑end closure, including inventory cleanup and supply requests.
- Prepare documentation and other written support as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Unit Manager, Food Service Supervisor, or Assistant Supervisor.
