Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements when required, and recording intake and output. Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Under the supervision of an RN or LPN, performs basic patient care activities in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Reports to the Director or Manager of the Department.
• Patient populations served include neonates, infants, early childhood, late childhood, adolescents, young adults, middle adults, and older adults.
• Protection of personal health information: demographic, clinical, insurance, financial, and complete medical record.
• Exposure:
  Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens is present for all employees.

• Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements.
• Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

• Current WA CNA certification.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certificate or obtain within 90 days after hire date.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Assist with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.
