Position Overview /DutiesWorks under the general supervision of the Natural Resources Manager who issues broad guidance on program objectives. Incumbent assures that work assignments are effectively carried out by the maintenance staff. Works independently using own initiative and judgment to plan and carry out all project maintenance activities. Determines where to begin, how to complete the job, and demonstrates proper work methods. Overall work operations are reviewed for efficient and economical accomplishment of work within priorities and controls received.
Serves as Maintenance Supervisor over the Resources Maintenance staff, and is assigned responsibilities to supervise, direct, schedule, and/or perform all maintenance and repair of project facilities and equipment (covering electrical and mechanical equipment throughout the project).
Supervises maintenance and repair activities for recreation areas to include, parks, Habitat Management Units, roads, ditches, levees, water and sewage treatment systems and facilities, pump intake systems and plant stations, electrical distribution systems, shower buildings, comfort stations, vault toilets, picnic shelters, tables, swimming beaches, parking lots, boat ramps, docks, signs, office buildings, fencing, campsites, picnic grills, and playground equipment across a large area of responsibility consisting of 5 counties in two states and for three projects to include McNary, Ice Harbor and part of Lower Monumental.
Also includes maintenance and repair of equipment, tools, maintenance shops, fuel supplies, pipelines, trees, turf and vessels.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Minimum Experience RequirementLeading a work team with minimal supervision. I am able to plan and independently perform tasks in the areas of maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, heavy equipment operation and operating and maintaining pumping plants and irrigation systems. I am able to work as part of a crew and to assume responsibility for leading in the accomplishment of tasks.
Conditions And Requirements- Pre-employment physical required.
- Valid state driver's license required.
- Must obtain and maintain a boat operator's certification through the Corps of Engineers.
- Exerts heavy physical effort in doing such tasks as frequently lifting and moving objects weighing under 45 pounds unassisted, obtains assistance or uses appropriate equipment or safety devices when lifting and moving heavy objects greater than 45 pounds.
