6 hrs/day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday; 4 hrs on Wednesday; 4 hrs on Early Release Days; 1 hr per day Monday‑ annual change) - 12‑month period (180‑day calendar)
- Salary: $21.38 – $23.72 per hour; +$0.50 per hour for AA degree, +$0.75 per hour for BA degree
- New hires must pass a fingerprint screening
Temporary position for the 2025‑2026 school year. Open date: 11/04/2025. Final date to receive applications/close date: 11/12/2025 at 4:00 PM or until filled. First screening: 11/12/2025.
Essential Responsibilities- Administers first aid to provide emergency care.
- Provides one‑on‑one or group instruction.
- Assists classroom teacher and/or building administrator(s) with classroom management.
- Assists with preparing materials needed to conduct lessons.
- Provides support or supervision of students (arrival, departure, cross‑walk duty, transit to/from bus, recess, breakfast/lunch, hall monitoring, unloading/loading wheelchair‑bound students).
- Assists with reporting misconduct on school property and/or school bus route(s).
- Assists with light cleaning, issuing equipment, setting up, taking down, and supervising students during age‑appropriate games/activities.
- Adheres to district safety policies and/or procedures and required program guidelines.
- Attends and completes annual required training hours for para educator certification.
- Provides support, supervision, and/or assistance administering tests, quizzes, exams, or any assessment directed by teacher to evaluate student progress or learning.
- Maintains accurate and efficient student records within student information management system(s).
- Translates verbal and/or written information for the purpose of assisting students, district personnel, parents, and/or guardians (bilingual only).
- Assists with diapering, tube feeding, toileting, catheters, and/or lifting; additional pay provided if performing these duties per CBA.
- Participates in district meetings to communicate information and gain feedback and/or direction on a variety of issues.
- Distributes documents and materials to appropriate staff, students, and/or parents.
- Assists with supervision of students to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
- Assists other personnel as may be required to support them with the completion of their work activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
- Assists with contacting parents and/or guardians regarding student behavior and academic progress.
- Has or is willing to obtain CPI training.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Bilingual and/or Biliterate (Spanish), required.
- Must meet one or more of the following:
- Associate's degree (AAS, AA) or higher.
- Earned 72 college quarter credits or 48 semester credits in college‑level 100 or higher courses.
- Passing score on the Educational Testing Service (ETS) para educator assessment.
- Prior para educator experience, college, or on‑the‑job experience preferred but not required.
- Experience working with students who have special needs preferred but not required.
- Valid First Aid and/or CPR card for infants and children or willingness to obtain.
- Prior experience in a K‑12 school setting preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of general office equipment such as computers, copiers, laminators, telephones, scanners, paper cutters, book covering materials, and/or step ladders.
- Knowledge of proper use of English in both written and verbal forms, use of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Maintains detailed and accurate records.
- Skills in operating standard office equipment including basic computer applications.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
