Job DescriptionAn Ingalls First-Class Electrician, also called an Electrical Journeyman, is responsible for the layout, installation and repair of shipboard cables, lighting, and electronic equipment, as well as the ships power. Electricians use hand and power tools, test equipment, and blueprints, drawings and schematics. Work environments may involve different heights, confined spaces, varying weather conditions, and multiple shifts. Electricians may be required to work day or night depending on ship construction needs.
Ingalls emphasizes safe work practices with safety procedures meeting or exceeding industry standards.
- Minimum 4 years experience in the commercial, industrial or marine electrical field
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Read and interpret marine drawings and/or blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements
- One (1) year shipboard experience (sonar, radar, power, internal communication, navigation, etc.)
