Position Overview
The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse educated in the art and science of nursing. The RN provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, the Code of Ethics for Nurses, CDC guidelines for infection control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for provision of care, treatment, and services.

EducationGraduate from NLN School of Nursing
LicenseCurrently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi.
Certification Requirements- All RNs required to complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
- Cath Lab – ACLS
- Cardiac Rehab – ACLS
- Congestive Heart Failure – ACLS
- Cardiovascular Surgery – ACLS
- Emergency Department – ACLS, PALS, TNCC
- Intensive Care Units – ACLS
- Labor & Delivery – ACLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation)
- Medical Nursing – OB/GYN – PALS
- Nursery – NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation)
- Pediatrics – PALS
- PACU/Recovery – ACLS, PALS
RNs have 12 months from the date they begin working in the specialty area to acquire the appropriate certification and 18 months to acquire TNCC certification for the Emergency Department.
Must have de‑escalation training completed by end of position orientation (90 days); appropriate level of de‑escalation training required.
ExperienceMinimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience preferred, within the past five (5) years or evidence of successful refresher program.

SupervisesLPNs, Patient Care Assistants, Unit Technicians
Physical DemandsWork is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Exert negligible force to lift, carry, push, pull objects, including human body. Expose to body fluids, sputum, tissues carrying infectious disease hazard. Repetitive motions with wrists, hands, fingers while using computer keyboard. Visual acuity, fine discrimination.
Ability to work extended periods without undue fatigue. Work schedule assigned with changes per hospital needs for off days, shifts or weekends.
Must demonstrate keen mental faculties, superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Emotional stability for high stress levels. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Special DemandsMust possess superior customer service skills, professional etiquette. Proficient knowledge and ability to use computer (keyboard proficient), other office technology, MS Outlook, Word. Demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply professional skills to a patient population of all ages. Attention to detail and multitasking in complex situations. Maintain collaborative and respectful working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.
