Overview
The Licensed Practical Nurse provides skilled technical nursing care to patients according to predefined standards and a plan of care established by a Registered Nurse or Physician. Assumes other duties as assigned. The Licensed Practical Nurse provides care utilizing the MS Nurse Practice Act, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and Singing River Hospital System Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment and Services.
As such, this performance evaluation is based on these standards.
This position is full-time:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Singing River Pediatrics, 2809 Denny Avenue, Room 3018, Pascagoula, Mississippi, 39581, United States.
This individual must be forthcoming, honest and cooperative in departmental matters involving self or others, and must promote the hospital’s mission of "world class healthcare and wellness" and understand that the SRHS Corporate Compliance Program places the burden of proof on the provider to show that there was no intent to commit fraud.
Responsibilities- Provide skilled nursing care to patients according to plan of care established by a RN or physician.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
- Utilize the MS Nurse Practice Act, CDC Infection Control Guidelines, and Singing River Hospital System Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment and Services.
- Graduate from an approved school of practical nursing. Current Mississippi State licensure. LPN licensure for practice in the expanded role.
- Must complete and maintain current BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
- Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.
- Appropriate nursing practice/experience within the past three (3) years.
- Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and to travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Requires exerting a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects, including the human body.
- Involves exposure to body fluids, sputum and tissues, which may carry the hazard of infectious disease. Includes repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and fingers while using standard office equipment.
- Requires normal hearing and vision; ability to focus on computer monitors and printed materials at varying distances.
- Must be able to be active for extended periods and work shifts as assigned, with possible adjustments for hospital needs.
- Exhibits keen mental faculties, assessment and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrates superior communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong interpersonal abilities.
- Maintains emotional stability under high stress, works under pressure, and meets deadlines.
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task in complex situations; maintains collaborative working relationships within SRHS and with other organizations.
- Superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.
- Proficient computer skills and ability to use MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and general office technology.
- Demonstrates appropriate clinical judgment and applies professional skills to patient populations of all ages.
