Job DescriptionAn Ingalls Pipefitter (Journeyman Pipefitter) is responsible for fitting pipe made of materials such as steel, galvanized, copper, copper-nickel and stainless, along with the appropriate valves and fittings, using various tools and equipment in accordance with drawings, arrangements and blueprints. Work environments may include different heights, confined spaces, adverse weather, and multiple shifts 24 hours a day. A Pipefitter may be required to work either day or night depending on ship construction activity.
Safety procedures are emphasized and often meet or exceed industry standards.
- 2-3 yrs of marine, industrial or petro-chemical pipe fitting experience
- Completed high school or equivalent pipe fitting technical program with NCCER certification
- High school graduate or equivalent, Tech Master Certification
