Overview
The HEAVY DUTY MECHANIC–TIREMAN role at Ingalls Shipbuilding, a Division of HII involves repairing and replacing tires for a range of vehicles from automotive to large equipment. The position is full‑time, located in Mississippi, and requires identifiable U.S. citizenship for some duties. Ingalls Shipbuilding is a leading U.S. Navy shipbuilder with a workforce of over 11,000 employees, building amphibious ships, destroyers, and cutters for the Navy and Coast Guard.
Responsibilities• Inspect, identify, inflate, seal, and balance tires of all sizes and plies.
• Inspect tire casings for defects such as holes or tears.
• Lift and carry heavy tires and tools.
• Follow safety procedures and shipyard quality standards.
Must Have
• Minimum two years experience as a tireman.
• Ability to identify tire size and ply, inspect casings, seal punctures, and balance tires.
• Physical strength to lift and carry heavy tires and tools.
Nice to Have
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years experience working in a tire shop as a tireman.
