The Patient Care Associate provides basic nursing care to patients according to predefined guidelines and a plan of care established by a Registered Nurse or LPN. The role operates under direct supervision and follows the CDC Infection Control Guidelines and the Singing River Health System Nursing Plan.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with personal and restorative care for patients.
- Implement the plan of care under RN or LPN supervision.
- Adhere to Singing River Health System procedures, accreditation standards, and governing guidance.
- Maintain BCLS certification upon hire and transfer.
- Complete de‑escalation training by the end of orientation (within 90 days).
- Education
:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of a Nurse Assistant/Aide program preferred. - Certification
:
Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification recognized by the State of Mississippi Department of Health required upon hire for SNF unit. BCLS certification required upon hire or transfer. - Experience
:
Equivalently related work experience or completion of a Nurse Aide program required. - License
: N/A.
Reports to
:
Registered Nurse or LPN responsible for patient care management during a shift.
Supervises
:
None.
Physical demands include moderate activity, frequent movement, and negligible force for lifting and moving objects. Mental demands require keen assessment, superior communication skills, emotional stability, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Special DemandsProficiency with computer technology, customer service skills, clinical judgment, and professional etiquette.
