The Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensures patients receive the correct medication; packages and labels medication doses; fills routine orders for stock supplies to patient care areas; and assists in all aspects of IV admixture preparation and delivery. He/She complies with the standards, ethics, laws and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy, including the MS Board of Pharmacy and the Accreditation Agency standards.
Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.
Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, perform duties related to ensuring correct medication delivery, packaging and labeling medication doses, filling routine stock orders for patient care areas, and assisting in IV admixture preparation and delivery. Adhere to applicable laws, standards, and policies.
QualificationsEducation
High school graduate or equivalent required.
License
Must complete application registration for Pharmacy Technician Student with the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy.
Certifications
Must obtain a valid Pharmacy Technician license/registration from the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy by the end of the apprenticeship.

Physical Demands
Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent movement, travel within the SRHS service area, light lifting or moving of objects; exposure to body fluids, sputum and tissues; repetitive wrist/hand/finger motions; close visual acuity; and ability to work extended periods and variable schedules.

Strong decision-making, communication, and multi-tasking abilities under pressure with deadlines; ability to maintain professional relationships across organizations.
Special Demands
Superior customer service skills; proficient computer use (keyboard, MS Outlook and Word); ability to apply clinical judgment across patient ages.
