Accounts Payable Clerk

General Function

Performs varied to complex clerical Accounts Payable duties which require knowledge of Accounts Payable procedures and the interrelationships of accounts in systems covering operations that involve several different programs. Works under the general supervision of an Accounts Payable Manager or Director of Accounting.

• Receives, audits, and processes vendor invoices against purchase orders for payment on accounts payable vouchers.
• Analyzes supporting documents for completeness, accuracy, and proper approvals.
• Maintains positive work relationships with multiple departments by troubleshooting and analyzing invoice discrepancies and tracking communication.
• Prepares, reviews, and releases regular and special batches.
• Maintains accounts payable logs and records.
• Performs routine to varied clerical work.
• Provides general office support.

• Knowledge of business math and English.
• Knowledge of office procedures and automated accounting systems.
• Skilled in data entry and able to produce accurate and timely reports.
• Ability to make mathematical computations quickly and accurately.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Knowledgeable in Excel.
• Ability to manage high work volumes by multitasking effectively.

• High School Diploma or General Education Development supplemented by coursework in data entry operations, typing, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• 2+ years' experience in accounts payable processing.
