Under the supervision of the Security Captain, the SOC Sergeant provides security and protection of work site(s), personnel, and assets at the assigned job site. This is a working supervisor hybrid role that combines supervisory responsibilities with hands‑on work within a security team.

Key job functions include but are not limited to monitoring and responding to security incidents in accordance with established procedures; monitoring surveillance cameras, alarm systems, access control systems, and other security technologies, as well as analyzing security alerts and reports. Additionally, the SOC Sergeant provides first line supervision to security officers on shift, may issue duty and post assignments, and make timely required notifications.

The SOC Sergeant performs administrative duties such as writing incident reports/shift journals, timekeeping, and maintaining the shift log and other confidential/sensitive documentation.

The position is a key contributor to the security operations team in the event of a crisis/emergency that would threaten the safe and secure business operations. Verbal communication skills and the ability to appropriately respond to emergency situations are critical.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of prior military, law enforcement, corrections, or private security experience.
  • Proficiency in electronic security management applications including Microsoft Office, Video, Access Control, and Alarm Management.
  • Knowledge of communications and dispatch operations.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • State Unarmed Security Officer License or able to obtain

  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or ability to obtain prior to
  • Able to proficiently speak, read, understand and write English
  • Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to interact with all levels of personnel, external agencies, and the general public in a professional and effective manner.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively.
  • Maturity of judgement and behavior
  • Ability to lead with professionalism, respect and integrity at all times
  • Strong decision making and incident/event management skills
  • As a condition of employment, must be able to successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post‑offer physical/fitness for duty evaluation.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & APTITUDES

  • Previous experience working at a Security Operation Center (SOC) or in a Dispatch environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of security services and developing Security Post Orders in the private sector.
  • Ability to remain calm and to mitigate high stress security situations involving multiple complex operations and large groups of personnel.
  • Ability to understand and operate integrated sensor packages, including audio, video, motion detection, and access control systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Understand and execute post orders including enforcement of client and company policies, rules and regulations. Guard property against damage, fire, theft, and illegal or unauthorized entry.
  • Perform security/console and emergency response duties in accordance with site‑specific procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Responsible for monitoring the client’s access control system. Monitor control center equipment such as closed‑circuit television, alarms, police scanners, printers, etc., to protect company assets and personnel and control access to building areas.
  • Monitor CCTV activity. Initiate response to site alarms in accordance with site procedures.
  • Keep track of the working status of all electronic equipment. Alert the Facility Manager of malfunctioning equipment.
  • Monitor local and enterprise systems for incidents or threats to Company personnel/assets.
  • Manage all emergency call and dispatch emergency personnel. Ensure critical communications, including site wide announcements, are made as required.
