DescriptionAs a Manual Machinist, you’ll support Machine shop in our Pasadena, TX in running conventional (manual) lathes and/or mill, holding tight tolerances meeting OEM requirements and specifications. Read and interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements for the different products that optimize the extraction, production and processing of energy.
Responsibilities- Supporting safety culture and driving a safe to start mindset.
- Operating special purpose equipment, conventional (lathe and/or mill).
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
- Starting and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required.
- Selecting, aligning, and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
- Reading and interpreting documents such as OEM drawings, REI’s, Work Instructions, and Digital Routers.
- Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD & T). Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
- Demonstrate advanced / expert skill level in conventional (manual) lathes and/or mill.
- Experience with 3 and 4 jaw chucks.
- Worked with exotic metals.
- Able to tap and drill.
- Hold tolerance 0.001–0.003 inches.
- Able to compound angles.
- GD&T knowledge.
- Able to chase lead threads.
- Understand machine shop math.
- Able to perform own set-ups.
- Communicate complex technical information clearly to support decision-making.
- Fast-paced and noisy environment with constant movement.
- Regular lifting and/or moving up to 50–100 lbs.
- High school diploma or equivalent and 3+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to operate manual machines.
- Experience on 3 and 4 jaw chucks.
- Supporting machine shop based on customer needs.
- Monday – Friday (overtime as needed)
- 1st shift: 7am to 3:30pm
