Overview

INEOS Oxide is a global chemical company. The Laboratory Technician reports to the Laboratory Supervisor and is part of the site Quality Group. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for safely providing accurate and timely sample results for quality conformance, for operational process control, to fulfill special customer requirements, or in support of troubleshooting or improvement projects.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities
  • Follow all safety/PPE rules and actively promote safety issues such as behavior-based safety, safety audits, safety committee meetings, safety improvement reports, job safety analysis, safety inspections, etc.
  • Directly responsible for understanding, promoting and upholding the INEOS 20 Principles.
  • Directly responsible for understanding and following INEOS Oxide Life Saving Rules.
  • Directly responsible for understanding and completing all regular Cybersecurity training and awareness campaigns.
  • Perform routine testing to determine product quality status as specified by the product specification system.
  • Perform routine testing to support unit production or process control as specified by the inline testing schedules or requests from the manufacturing units.
  • Perform non-routine testing with the assistance of the laboratory staff.
  • Accurately input all data into LIMS system.
  • Proactively and continuously clean the laboratory and equipment to display and maintain the housekeeping standards necessary for a world-class organization.
  • Follow the rules of statistical process control (SPC) on laboratory test results to assure the measurement system is in statistical control.
  • Actively promote quality goals and demonstrate attention to quality in job performance.
  • Check operation of testing equipment, troubleshoot equipment to identify and/or correct source of problem, perform required routine preventative maintenance, and notify the shift team leader of any abnormalities or maintenance requirements.
  • Schedule work to meet priorities.
  • Conduct job tasks in a professional manner utilizing good housekeeping practices and laboratory technique.
  • Participate as required safety or quality work teams to improve the current systems.
  • Work as part of the laboratory team to accomplish organization goals.
  • Improve and maintain housekeeping practices on shift to meet Asset Care expectations.

The candidate is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a 24/7/365 laboratory. The employee must be able to manage routine and non-routine samples and workloads while communicating with operations, product movement, and other site departments. Internal factors will be supporting operations, environmental critical samples, process safety sampling and maintaining instrumentation and tools. This position works a rotating shift and will be expected to work overtime.

This worker is required to work with ethylene oxide. A complete commitment to safety is not negotiable.

  • Sedentary Work:
    Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

  • This worker is required to work with ethylene oxide. A complete commitment to safety is not negotiable.
  • Physical requirements include being able to lift 5-gallon containers (up to 50lbs.) and sample trays up to 30 lbs. and walking for up to 20 feet.
  • The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions:
    Protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions:
    No effective protection from the weather.
  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions:
    Activities occur inside and outside.
  • The worker is subject to extreme cold:
    Temperatures below 32 degrees F for periods of more than one hour.
  • The worker is subject to hazards:
    Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions:
    Fumes, Odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
  • The worker is subject to oils:
    There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
  • The worker is required to wear a respirator or don a gas mask.
