To maintain an efficient, safe and pleasant work environment. To assist the Director, Medical Director and Physicist in directing all aspects of care provided by the Medical Imaging Department, including but not limited to; procedures, treatments, quality improvement, quality control and other related duties. Further more, the Technologist produces two dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs for use by Physician in diagnosis of disease and study of malfunction of organs by performing the following duties.
- Keys test data and patient information into computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results.
- Assists physician with Ultrasound guided biopsies or invasive procedures.
- Assures the department meets the criteria for varies accrediting agencies, these include TDH, TJC.
- Expectations Ethics and Compliance:

- Explains process to patient, and instructs and assists patient in assuming physical position for examination.
- Moves transducer, by hand, over specified area of body and observes sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced.
- Must pass competency exam annually.
- Photographs images of organs shown on display module, or removes strip printout from equipment, to obtain permanent record of internal examination.
- May be required, on occasion, to travel to/from different sites for patient care.
- Selects equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to specifications of examination.
- Registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (A.R.D.M.S.) or ARRT Sonography with Abdomen (AB) or OB registry required.
- Current BLS required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- (RDMS) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, or Associate Degree, or Certificate
