Position OverviewUnder general supervision, this Full‑Time position assists with the oversight and daily management of the retail team. This includes but is not limited to day‑to‑day retail operations, training, coaching, mentoring, store organization, inventory management, and visual merchandising. This is a full‑time, non‑exempt position requiring weekends, some evenings, and holidays. Typical hours for this position are Sunday‑Thursday, 8:45 am‑5:30 pm and reports to the Operations Supervisor, Retail.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Day‑to‑Day OperationsAssist in oversight of day‑to‑day store operations, which includes ensuring all retail locations are open and closed according to retail guidelines. Assist in maintaining POS operations and staffing needs. Work daily on the sales floor and serve as a backup to cover retail sales areas throughout the day, including breaks and lunches and possible callouts from part‑time staff as needed. Support other department Supervisors as needed.
Responsible for key backup on Fridays and Saturdays, and when essential for holiday and vacation coverage.
Model selling best practices daily to lead the team to meet and exceed sales goals. Maximize store sales through inventory management. Assist in maintaining store and payroll budgets.
Guest Experience and Customer ServiceCreate joyful and meaningful experiences for our guests through excellent customer service. Model and uphold customer service best practices, and lead team in creating genuine and meaningful connections with museum guests.
Scheduling and HiringCreate daily schedules and templates. Work in collaboration with the Retail Operations Supervisor to update and maintain staffing tools and paperwork such as Rippling and ADP. Will assist in recruitment and onboarding.
Supervision and TrainingWill provide direct feedback and coaching in partnership with the Retail Operations Supervisor. Empower others and encourage individual growth. Assist with training and team accountability and development. Assist in maintaining attendance and performance records. Assist in evaluation of the Retail team which includes performance conversations and feedback. Help in development and implementation of coaching plans and strategies to help the team meet and exceed baseline expectations.
Merchandisingand Stock Room Organization
Use product data and sales trends to assist in visual merchandising and stock room organization. Work with Retail Management Team to implement floor moves, participate in store physical inventory, and seasonal changes.

- Minimum two (2) years of experience in a retail or sales supervisory role.
- Experience managing POS systems. Knowledge of Shopify is a plus.
- Experience in store merchandising preferred.
- Proficiency in oral and written English language communication. Additional languages are a plus.
- Ability to work while standing and walking (with reasonable accommodation) in an outdoor atmosphere that includes inclement or sunny weather. Kidspace is largely an outdoor venue.
- Requires bending, squatting, crouching, stooping, twisting, pushing, pulling, carrying, lifting, and reaching.
- Requires lifting and/or carrying up to 20 lbs. and pushing and/or pulling of up to 40 lbs.
- Valid California’s Driver’s License and a clean driving record required.
- Excellent computer skills including using email, internet, Windows, Microsoft Office and more.
