ABOUT LACERALos Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA) administers and manages the $87+ billion retirement fund for the County of Los Angeles. LACERA provides retirement, disability, and death benefits to eligible County Employees and their Beneficiaries, and manages the $4.5 billion OPEB Master Trust.

ABOUT THE POSITIONThe vacancy is in the Investments and Commercial Transactions Section of the Legal Division. The role is part of a team of attorneys, legal analysts, and secretarial support that provide legal advice and representation on investment issues and transactional support to LACERA and its Boards of Retirement and Investments as well as other divisions.
Responsibilities include:
evaluating investment-related questionnaires, forms, registrations and subscription agreements for commingled funds; maintaining title holding entities; drafting minutes and resolutions; assisting with investment closings; managing tax returns and applying for tax exemptions; submitting country registrations and powers of attorney; processing invoices; maintaining logs and spreadsheets; researching, analyzing, troubleshooting, and responding to internal client requests.
The vacancy is in the Investments and Commercial Transactions Section; the eligible register can fill current and future vacancies throughout the Legal Division.
WORK SCHEDULEFull-time, 5/40 schedule. LACERA offers a hybrid work environment and may allow up to three telework days per week.
SELECTION REQUIREMENTSOPTION 1: Certificate of completion of an American Bar Association approved paralegal training program or equivalent, plus three (3) years’ experience in a paralegal or similar role in the public or private sector.
OPTION 2: Graduation from an accredited law school with one year of experience in a paralegal or similar role in the public or private sector.

PHYSICAL CLASS IILight effort, occasional light lifting to a 10‑pound limit, bending, walking, stooping or squatting. Incumbents sit for extended periods in a controlled climate office environment.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS- Experience analyzing and reviewing documents regarding the purchase and sale of improved real estate.
- Experience with tax issues, including tax returns and exemption forms.
- Experience maintaining companies such as corporations, LLCs, and partnerships.
- Experience drafting corporate minutes, consents, and resolutions.
- Experience reviewing subscription agreements, investor questionnaires, KYC/AML forms for alternative investment transactions.
- Experience with matter management software, maintaining logs, spreadsheets, and calendaring deadlines.
- Experience filling out country registrations and powers of attorney for custodial accounts.
- Experience processing and reviewing invoices for legal services.
- Experience using WESTLAW, LEXIS, and other online research resources.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
- Experience working with Adobe to format, edit, and manipulate PDFs.
- Experience with matter and document management software.
Legal issues related to investment and transactional matters, correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary; interpersonal and customer service skills; principles of Adobe and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, and legal research tools such as Lexis and Westlaw.
